MetaServer Version 3.1(31): Enhanced AI Classification, Cotranet Export & Improved Diagnostics
Released in March 2025, MetaServer version 3.1(31) introduces powerful tools to accelerate document classification, streamline Cotranet exports, and boost performance diagnostics – empowering resellers and end-userrs to automate with greater precision and control. With support for Azure AI Document Intelligence’s Custom Classification model, a new Export to Cotranet action, and upgraded server monitoring tools, this version continues to add value for both resellers and end-users aiming to optimise document workflows.
What’s New in MetaServer 3.1(31)
1. Smarter Classification with Azure AI Custom Models
MetaServer now supports the Custom Classification model of Microsoft Azure AI Document Intelligence. This feature allows users to train their own document classification models within Azure’s Document Intelligence Studio (DI Studio), enabling tailored, high-accuracy classification for specific business use cases.
This feature is ideal for businesses processing high volumes of diverse documents—such as invoices, contracts, ID forms, and more—where manual classification is time-consuming and error-prone. With AI handling classification, document types are automatically detected and mapped to MetaServer fields, accompanied by a confidence level for validation. This helps teams focus on verification rather than sorting, significantly reducing administrative overhead.
How it works:
- Train the model using five or more samples per document type.
- Once published, the model becomes available within MetaServer’s Extract (Azure AI Document Intelligence) action.
- Automatically populate a MetaServer field with the identified document type.
- Leverage confidence scores to validate or flag uncertain classifications.
Note: This functionality requires the new module CB‑META‑AZCC, in addition to the existing CB‑META‑AZDI license.
2. New Export to Cotranet Integration
MetaServer now supports direct export to Cotranet Cloud or On-Premise, offering users a highly configurable new output option. Users can define folder structures dynamically, map document metadata to Cotranet index fields, and apply naming conventions using MetaServer fields or fixed values.
This is particularly valuable for public sector organisations, legal departments, and healthcare providers already using Cotranet for digital archiving. With MetaServer’s export action, documents can be delivered directly to Cotranet in a structured, compliant format—reducing the need for manual uploads and file handling.
Key features include:
- Dynamic folder and subfolder creation based on document metadata.
- Flexible file naming using fixed values or MetaServer fields.
- Field mapping aligned with the document type’s index structure in Cotranet.

3. Faster Display of Large Documents
In the Validate action, a new option—Create Fast Display Document—improves the handling of very large images (over 17.5 megapixels). This temporary file accelerates display time during validation and does not affect output quality.
4. Advanced Server Monitoring: Memory & CPU Logging
Administrators can now enable monthly memory usage logging, which records critical memory and CPU metrics in a .CSV file named:
This allows IT teams to proactively monitor system health and diagnose performance issues more easily.
5. User Interface and Logging Improvements
When logging is enabled for supported actions, MetaServer now displays a pop-up with the exact file path of the generated log. This enhancement makes it easier for users and support teams to locate diagnostic files without manually searching system folders.
Bug Fixes
- Resolved retry issues with:
- “Unable to delete file…”
- “Impossible to create an existing file.”
- Fixed issue where tasks triggered at fixed times would execute immediately upon publishing.
- Suppressed irrelevant file definition errors when "Export Files" was disabled in the Export to Folder action.
- Addressed crashes in Azure AI models (Invoice, ID Document, Receipt) when processing blank PDFs.
- Corrected resolution downgrades in some conversions from text-based PDFs to TIFF, JPG, or image PDFs.
Experience Enhancements
- Modern authentication: Internet Explorer-based Oauth2 login screens replaced with Edge WebView2, improving security and compatibility.
- Format CSV improvements: Enhanced row deletion logic, tooltips added for clarity, and improved handling of repeating single-line fields.
- Streamlined validation: The “Confirm Lookup” prompt in the Validate – DB Lookup rule is now only triggered when the user modifies a field.
- MetaServer startup logging: System startup events are now recorded for better traceability.
Comprehensive monitoring: CPU utilisation is now included alongside memory data in performance logs.
